Delete your Skim account

Applies to: Skim for Android and iOS, by Muhammad ShahLast updated: 2 September 2026

Deleting your account is permanent. It removes the account itself and everything Skim holds for it, listed below. There is no recovery window and no "deactivated" state: once confirmed, the data is gone.

Option 1 — from inside the app

  1. Open Skim and go to the Library tab.
  2. Scroll to the More section at the bottom.
  3. Tap Delete account. It appears only while you are signed in.
  4. Read the confirmation and tap Delete everything.

Deletion runs immediately. When it finishes you are signed out and the app shows "Your account and its contents were deleted."

Option 2 — by email, without the app

If you have uninstalled Skim, or cannot sign in, email engr.mu.shah@gmail.com with the subject line "Delete my Skim account".

Send it from the Google account you used to sign in to Skim. Your Google email address is how the account is identified, and it is the only way we can confirm the request is yours. We will not delete an account on a request from a different address.

Requests are actioned within 30 days, usually much sooner, and you will get a reply confirming it is done.

What is deleted

Everything, across all storage. In particular:

What may persist, and for how long

We do not keep separate database backups, so there is no backup copy to expire.

Deleting some data but keeping the account

Individual pieces can be let go from Daily Review in the app. To disconnect X without deleting your account, revoke Skim under Settings → Security → Connected apps on X, then email the address above and we will remove the stored token. For anything else, email the address above.
