skim

The second life of the things you’ve been meaning to read.

The articles in your bookmarks. The PDFs you downloaded and never opened. The thing the AI told you on Tuesday. Skim distils each one into a card — the idea it is really about, and three lines that earn it — then hands them back to you one at a time.

A reading app for Android and iOS by Muhammad Shah. Not on Google Play yet.

A link goes in. One card comes out.

Six ways in

Everything you add ends up in the same place — a card in tomorrow’s deck.

You haveSkim takes it as
A link, or anything shared from another appThe page fetched and distilled, with the article kept so you can read it in full
A PDF you downloaded and never openedOne concept per card, each citing the page it came from
A screenshot of a paragraphThe text read off the image, and the photo kept beside it
A newsletter in your inboxForwarded to an address that is yours alone, headings and links intact
A ChatGPT or Claude conversationThe turns, with the code blocks, tables and artifacts still in them
Your X bookmarksConnected once, then synced and distilled like everything else

Pieces you keep land in a library. Ones you forget come back on their own. A line you loved goes to a commonplace book, and Skim returns it to you once you have had time to forget it.

What it looks like

Swipe right to keep a card, left to let it go, up to come back to it later. Tap to read the whole thing.

What it isn’t

No ads. Nothing sold. No feed of other people’s opinions. Just what you meant to read, in the order you meant to read it.

Your data

To build a card, the content you add is sent to third-party AI providers to be summarised. The privacy policy names every one of them, and everything else Skim stores.

You can delete your account and everything in it at any time, from inside the app or from here.
